Local Guides and Staff
Apart from our unique approach to experiencing the Amazon aboard a classic Houseboat or Riverboat, what distinguishes our established tour company is our dependence upon local guides and staff. All our guides, boat captains, cooks and crew are from Manaus and the Negro River region of the Brazilian state of Amazonas and have worked with us for years. They may not ALL speak English but your happiness and safety is their number one priority.

Testimonials
Swallows and Amazons...delivered all that they had promised. The boat crew was phenomenal. The experience of slowly motoring up the vastness of the flooded forest of the Rio Negro (the largest northern tributary of the Amazon system) is unforgettable. Anyone interested in this kind of experience can do no better.

We struck gold with Swallows and Amazons. We had the adventure of a lifetime . Anand the guide was top drawer. We didn’t want to be on a conveyor belt on the Amazon river and we were delighted that our experience was far from that! Mark Aitchison was super-efficient and accommodating and excellent at allaying our fears and doubts about the trip.

Mark Aitchison, the owner of S&A Tours, is an experienced Amazon guide and longtime tour operator, has the best contacts, strong reputation and provided excellent support during the planning and booking process. His houseboat and crew...were outstanding in terms of safety, comfort, and cleanliness. We highly recommend Swallows and Amazons Tours.
